Thanks to our Cairns Regional Council a number of events will be held across the Cairns region to recognise the spirit of ANZAC and remember those who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, see this summary for Anzac Day 2021 to see where Services and Parades are being held across our region, including road closure information.

Frontier Wars - Lest We Forget

Saturday afternoon at 4.00pm on Anzac Eve head to the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal for Frontier Wars – Lest We Forget a special corroborree of truth-telling, lament and remembrance.

 

 

 

 

 

Live Music/Dining

Savannah Summer Series Pool Party

The weekend entertainment kicks off early with the Savannah Summer Series Pool Party on at the Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort from 12.00pm Friday through till 10.00pm Saturday!

 

Looking for dining experiences Friday and Saturday night then check out Cairns Aquarium by Twilight with Dinner at Dundee’s at the Cairns Aquarium or have a good laugh at The Paramour Cabaret downstairs at The Reef Hotel Casino.

 

Sunday why not head to the Boardwalk Social for pool swims, pop-up bars, DJs and a BBQ menu that is sure to satisfy at their Sundaze – Boardwalk Social by Crystalbrook or enjoy a Sunday Sesh at Dundee’s Cairns Aquarium with DJ Glenn W.

 

Family Fun

Cairns Taipans v Perth Wildcats on Anzac Day

 

On Sunday from 1.00pm take the kids to enjoy Anzac Day Night Sliding at Sugarworld with night sliding till 8.30pm!

 

If they are Cairns Taipans fans then don’t miss this weekend’s home game where Cairns Taipans v Perth Wildcats on Anzac Day.

 

 

 

 

Markets

Yungaburra Markets

If the weather behaves be sure to enjoy the fabulous Yungaburra Markets that are on this Saturday morning in the beautiful Yungaburra Village.

 

On your way back down be sure to check out the two fantastic markets in Kuranda Village, Kuranda Original Rainforest Markets and the Kuranda Heritage Markets. Both these markets are open right through the long weekend from 10.00am to 3.00pm.

 

As always on Sunday the iconic Port Douglas Markets are on at Rex Smeal Park, such a great day trip.

 

 

 

Arts

Archibald Prize 2020At the new The Court House Gallery enjoy the amazing exhibitions including the Young Archie in Cairns Exhibition plus Lore to Law by Umi Arts | Exhibition and From the Ground Up by Yarrabah Arts Centre | Exhibition. If you want to see these then be sure to head in Saturday between 10.00am and 4.00pm as The Court House Gallery is CLOSED Sundays and Mondays.

 

The Tanks Arts Centre has a fantastic local exhibition Artists of the North 2021 – Cairns Art Society | Exhibition and this is open Friday and Monday from 9.00am to 4.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 10.00am to 2.00pm.

 

At the Cairns Art Gallery there is only 10 days left to catch the Archibald Prize 2020 Exhibition that is in Cairns for the first time in its 99 year history, plus check out the Reframing The Exotics – Sammy Baloji / Ade Adekola Exhibition and the Mammmmmmmywata Presents Life Solutions International – Alberta Whittle Exhibition. The Cairns Art Gallery is CLOSED Anzac Day, Sunday 25th April but is OPEN on Monday 26th April from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
