Join Cairns Chamber of Commerce for an exciting event that celebrates inclusivity in the Cairns tourism industry.
Discover the role diversity and inclusion plays within the tourism industry and explore the opportunities it presents.
Immerse yourself in engaging sessions led by industry experts, where you’ll gain valuable insights into the importance of diversity and inclusion in the tourism sector. From dispelling common myths to removing barriers to employment, this event will showcase the power of becoming disability confident and creating inclusive experiences for all.
Key program notes:
– Disability awareness training session personalised to the Cairns tourism industry.
– Panel discussion with local tourism businesses who have participated in the Tourism Taster Cairns program and chosen to embrace inclusion in both their workforce and operations.
– Keynote speaker: Paul Hockey. After losing his right arm to cancer at three weeks of age, in 2005 Paul became the first person with a disability to climb Mount Everest from the North side. Climbing is just part of his story, however.
– Network with like-minded individuals, share ideas, and forge new connections in a welcoming and casual atmosphere. This event offers a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the future of tourism in Cairns.

Time: 9:30 am arrival for a 10:00 am opening ceremony
Location: Cairns Convention Centre, Mezzanine level. Please enter through the main doors on Wharf Street side of the Cairns Convention Centre and follow directional signage to the Mezzanine level.
Parking: Free and paid street parking available around the venue. Alternatively, paid undercover parking available via Sheridan Street, then take the lift up to Mezzanine level.
