Exhibition Opening – Chantal Fraser – The Ascended
Join us at NorthSite Contemporary Arts for the (free) exhibition opening of The Ascended by Chantal Fraser.
Chantal Fraser, a Sāmoan artist from Aotearoa/New Zealand, explores themes of capitalism and state authority through photography, performance, and sculpture, often incorporating ornamentation and personal adornment. Her work has been exhibited at renowned galleries in Australia, Canada, and France. The Ascended is a Griffith University Art Museum touring exhibition, curated by Naomi Evans.
This opening event will be enhanced by Welcome to Country by Minjil and a live performance from the Samoan Dance Group of Cairns, with the rhythmic and cultural expressions of traditional Samoan dance. Catering by Freshies Island Food, a family-owned business, carrying the culinary food influences of Polynesian ancestors with a modern twist.
