Free African Drum Children’s Workshops – Epizo Bangoura – Cairns African Festival 2022

Born into a family of Griots, highly respected musicians and storytellers, Epizo Bangoura is one of Africa’s leading percussionists. Epizo began instruction in traditional instruments at the age of 3.
A a Griot, Epizo sees it his responsibility to share the knowledge of his culture with others. You will find Epizo a fun and gracious teacher of the highest calibre.
This is an opportunity for yourself or your children to learn from a true master of one of the most popular African hand drums, the Djembe.
Venue – CAIRNS SCHOOL OF DISTANCE EDUCATION (Clarke Street, Manunda Side Entrance)
– Tuesday 24 May – 3.30 to 5.00pm
– Wednesday 25 May – 3.30 to 5.00pm
– Thursday 26 May – 3.30 to 5.00pm
Children may register for all 3 children’s workshops – Children who participate in all 3 children’s workshops are encouraged to perform a short concert with Epizo and his brother Sibo on stage at the Cairns African Festival, Saturday 28 May.
