Hamlet and the Climate Emergency at Tanks Arts Centre

Event by Tanks Arts Centre

Shakespeare at the Tanks 2021!

A dynamic, condensed adaptation of Hamlet is interwoven with an ominous Climate Emergency in Tropical Arts 13th Annual Shakespeare at the Tanks production. With a large, diverse cast, “Hamlet & the Climate Emergency” fuses theatre, dance, and music with powerful digital landscapes. The classic tale transforms into a poignant, contemporary vision that speaks to dilemmas of our generation.

Hamlet, set in the modern world of corporate power, explores the tragic aftermath of betrayal. As the tragedy unfolds, a climate crisis is evoked that transcends time and place. While the earth grapples with our collective human legacy, we contemplate … “To be or Not to be”.

In partnership with ARC Disability Services and the Tanks Arts Centre, Tropical Arts presents a theatre experience that breaks down barriers to inclusion. “Hamlet & the Climate Emergency” celebrates the creative talents of our diverse community.

This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, Cairns Regional Council & ARC Disability Services.
