Karyn McDonald – Into the Deep Unknown – Our Underwater World from Micro to Macro at the Tanks Arts Centre
Event by Tanks Arts Centre.
This exhibition of oil paintings explores the marine environment, from the miniscule to the massive, capturing the beauty of our neighbouring reef wonderland and awakening us to its curiosities.
Karyn McDonald is a Cairns based artist, a passionate scuba diving instructor, schoolteacher and environmentalist. Her subjects include many amazing marine creatures that most people don’t have the opportunity to see up close with the naked eye. From misunderstood jellyfish to the unbelievable kaleidoscope of minute marine life that is such a vital part of our beautiful Great Barrier Reef, and an integral part of our culture.
“Diving into the underwater world is like being on another planet, with a myriad of curious creatures and unknown realms that are waiting to be explored. I wish to share this passion and journey with others so that they too can enjoy this magnificent visual gift that nature has given us.”
