NorthSite Contemporary Arts Season 3 Exhibitions 15 June – 10 August 2024. at Northsite Contemporary Arts
In Exhibitions Season III for 2024, NorthSite Contemporary Arts presents a suite of exhibitions by First Nations artists, coinciding with the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair 2024 (CIAF). In Gallery One and the Void, we premiere the new video and sound installation ‘way to be’ by artist Vernon Ah Kee, harnessing drone footage and data to showcase the Magnificent Gallery rock art in Western Yalanji country as never seen before. In Gallery Two, we showcase exciting new works from leading and emerging Torres Strait Islander artists in Meriba Tonar | Ngoelmudh | Our Way, curated by Aven Noah Jr and Leith Assan, and presented in partnership with Gab Titui Cultural Centre. Murray Island (Mer) artist Andrew Passi Snr presents an exhibition of dance machines and masks, Lamar Kop | Spiritual Centre, on the Long Wall. On the Foyer Wall, SpotFire II features prints on paper and fabric created as part of the SpotFire program at NorthSite Art Studios in 2023 by artists Brian Robinson, Glen Mackie, Kassandra Savage, Robert Tommy Pau, Ruth Saveka, Sheryl J Burchill, Taheega Savage, and Zane Saunders.

CIAF Satellite Exhibition at Cairns Court House Gallery, ‘All Come Under’ by Zane Saunders, Darren Blackman, and Bonemap, from 18th July – 17th August 2024.
CIAF (Stall N1) 25th July – 28th August: NorthSite will present an exhibition of new prints and weaving by artist Ivy Minniecon (Kuku Yalanji, Kabi Kabi, Gooreng Gooreng, and Vanuatu), developed with Dian Darmansjah at NorthSite Art Studios, alongside paintings by her Aunty and mentor, Karen Gibson. The display, titled ‘Women’s Business,’ reflects the importance of women staying strong and connected to Country, family, and community.
