The 2025 Clean Up Australia Day Cairns Community Big Butt Hunt at Cairns Central
March 2nd is confirmed as the date for the rescheduled 2024 Big Cigarette Butt Hunt!
After the first event was held in 2022, in 2023, five teams battled it out for the prestigious recognition of collecting the most cigarette butts during the event, with a whopping 10,350 butts collected in an hour and a half.
Teams are formed and on the day they are allocated a street, navigating their way from Cairns Central, down to the Reef Eye on the Western Events Lawn along the Cairns Esplanade.
Teams are provided with PEP and biodegradable bags to collect the cigarette butts. The team who has collected the most amount of cigarette butts in the 1.5 hours will be crowned the winner for the Clean Up Australia Day 2025 Cairns Big Butt Hunt.
