Tropical Tree Day at Moore’s Gully, Navigation Drive, Trinity Beach
Cairns Regional Council & Skyrail Rainforest Cableway 2024 Tropical Tree Day at Moore’s Gully, Trinity Beach – Sunday 1st December
We’re regenerating Moore’s Gully, surrounded by natural wetlands, nature corridors and walking tracks to create an attractive green space for the local Trinity Beach community. Connect with nature by helping plant 1,200 trees to create a thriving habitat for wallabies, bandicoots, and native wildlife, while learning how to care for our natural environment.
Planting native trees and shrubs will enhance the environment by reducing the need for mowing and land maintenance, mitigate invasive weeds, help our wetlands flourish, and create vital & safe habitats for local wildlife. The native plants have been carefully selected and raised in the Stratford nursery by Council’s Natural Assets Management Team, including many species already growing successfully in the area. These plants will benefit native wildlife and the community, by planting in the existing open grassy spaces, we will create a haven for wallabies, bandicoots, birds, butterflies, pollinators and various other native wildlife while creating an attractive natural environment around the network of pathways and walking tracks.
Enjoy free face painting & sausage sizzle, visit the wildlife & community information stalls and register to win fantastic lucky door prizes! Join us at this annual Tropical Tree Day community event hosted by Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Cairns Regional Council on Sunday 1st December from 8am – 10am.
We’re calling on the local Tropical North Queensland community to help us plant 1,200 trees! Don’t forget to be sun safe, bring a hat, water bottle and gardening gloves – we will provide the trees and the tools!
