Carley Elsum is the General Manager/Director of Ochre Restaurant & Catering.

 

Carley started at Ochre in 2009 as a waitress when Ochre was in Shields street and after many years of hard work and little spare time she is now a business partner with her mentor Craig Squire.

 

Originally from Shepparton in Victoria, Carley had a challenging start to her life in Cairns (a story for another day) although she wouldn’t change a thing now.

 

Carley has a great group of friends who are very understanding that her career is her life, and sometimes she just wants to sleep on her day off.

 

When not at work, Carley enjoys going for a bike ride, a horse ride (with her friends in Innisfail) or spending quality time with friends and family.

Quick Questions:

 

Question 1: Tell us your favourite local place to dine/drink?

Answer: Would have to be Ochre of course! haha… or next in line would be Flamingos or Three Wolves.

 

Question 2: What’s your favourite local activity to do in TNQ? eg. Jet Boating on Bad Fishy etc.

Answer: I don’t know if I’d call it an ‘activity’ but I just love heading out to the beaches, we are so lucky in FNQ! Heading to the beach on a Sunday is a day off well spent.

 

Question 3: Where is your favourite local place for a ‘staycation’?

Answer: Port Douglas – generally Pullman Sea Temple. Its just a really nice getaway with a beautiful pool and a bar close by – what more could you want.

 

Question 4: Where is your favourite local place to shop?

Answer: First thing that comes to mind would have to be Rusty’s Markets, I just love walking around and seeing all the fresh produce we have.
Also love getting a fresh orange juice from Smith St Cafe on my way to work… best start to the day!

 

Question 5: Thinking of local professional businesses, where have you received exceptional service? eg. accountant, car sales, doctor, hairdresser, beauty etc.

Answer: I work long hours and have two businesses to thank for keeping me looking alive. Diamonds & Dolls and also Suede Hair Cairns. Both professional and fantastic service. I’d be lost without them both, ha ha!
