Spring School Holidays at the Cairns Museum

 

Immerse yourself in spring’s allure at Cairns Museum’s upcoming school holiday program!

 

Daily Activities:

 

Museum Activity Trails – 10am to 4pm 

Ages: Suitable for all ages!

Ask Reception about our selection of family friendly activity trails. Choose your adventure and get exploring!

NEW! How many different types of flowers can you see in the photos and objects around the Museum? And what do the flowers mean in The Language of Flowers?

Cost: Free with entry – No bookings required

 

Kids Audio Tour – 10am to 4pm 

Ages: 9+ years

Who’s up for an adventure? Join Pip, Caden and Jules as they bring the Museum to life! BYO device and earphones and get ready for lots of fun and laughs along the way.

Colouring In Competition – 10am to 4pm 

Ages: Suitable for all ages!

Could your artwork be the one displayed in the pride of place? Lucky winners will have their colouring in sheets framed and hung in the Kids Workshop Space for 2023 as well as a Cairns Museum Prize Pack!

Collect your sheet from Museum Reception and head to the Verandah to do your best work (Entry box at Reception, Announced 5th October).

JCU 50 Treasures Revisited – 10am to 4pm 

Ages: Suitable for all ages!

A selection of 50 Treasures from James Cook University’s collection will be on display this winter holidays, so come in to see them and then have a go at creating your treasure at the TempX Kids Table to add to your personal treasure collection!

Cost: Free with entry -No bookings required

 

WORKSHOPS:

 

Week one – 18 to 20 September – Gifts of Spring

Flowers have significant meanings in many cultures and can even have messages associated with them! Our Cairns region flowers are even more special because they are unique to the tropics so come and craft some while you learn about your local flora at the Cairns Museum in Spring.

Time: 10:30–11:30 am (Mon, Tue, Wed)

Ages: 4-12 years

Cost: $10 members | $15 non-members

Week two – 27 to 29 September – Make Your Mark

Creating your own personal stamp has never been easier! Discover how different stamps are used all around us, how they are made, and make your own design with wax and special carving tools! Get ready to make your mark this Spring Holidays.

Time: 10:30–11:30am (Wed, Thurs, Fri)

Ages: 4-12 years

Cost: $10 members | $15 non-members

Adult assistance is recommended in workshops for children under 7 years. We thank you for your understanding of our efforts to curate a dynamic, engaging and educational school holiday program.

 

Museum admission times: Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm

 

General Museum admission prices: Adult: $15 / Child (under 14): $6 / Family (2 adults + 2 kids): $30 / Concession: $12 / Members: FREE
